The short version

Talk2Me is designed to keep your data on your Mac. By default, transcription runs on-device with Apple's speech engine, and nothing leaves your computer. You only send audio to a third-party provider when you explicitly choose a cloud model.

Audio

Audio is recorded only while you hold the dictation key. For on-device transcription, audio is processed locally and not transmitted. If you select a cloud provider (OpenAI, Groq, xAI, or Google), the recorded audio for that request is sent directly to that provider's API for transcription, governed by their privacy policy. Talk2Me does not run its own server and does not receive a copy of your audio.

Transcripts

Transcripts are placed on your clipboard and/or pasted into the frontmost app. Talk2Me does not store a persistent transcript history by default and does not transmit transcripts anywhere other than the provider needed to produce them.

API keys

Provider API keys you enter are stored locally on your Mac in the app's configuration. They are used solely to authenticate requests to the provider you selected. They are never sent to us.

Diagnostics

Talk2Me does not include analytics or telemetry. Local logs may record operational events for troubleshooting; they are kept on your device and avoid recording transcript text or API keys.
